Enter the 20 Mile (32.2km) event for a certified and timed race through a variety of settings including Limerick’s city centre, the University of Limerick, picturesque countryside and riverside locations.
The course offers ideal race day conditions for anyone preparing for a marathon in the weeks following the event (e.g. KBC Dublin Marathon or the TCS New York Marathon). The roads are closed or partially closed and monitored by marshals and medical personnel. You will be provided with water and isotonic drink stations along the route and race pacers are available to help you achieve your goal.

The 20 Mile starts with music and a warm-up at the award-winning People’s Park surrounded by Georgian Limerick. The course then heads to Childers Road – Rosbrien Rd – Punches Close – O’Connell Street.
The route leads onto Clare Street and taking in the historic Canal Bank. Then to the University and Castletroy area as far as Vistakon, taking in the superb University Campus and the breath-taking Living Bridge. This is a very popular running route for runners of all abilities including many world champions visiting Ger Hartman at the University Arena.
The 20 Mile course then returns to the city centre reaching the halfway point on Parnell Street. The route is filled with a wonderful array of historical, sporting and cultural sites, before finishing on the 20-mile mark on O’Connell Ave (besides Bobby Byrnes) and just 200 meters from the baggage reclaim area.

9.00am – 20 Mile runners will commence at 9:00am.
Yes pacemakers will be available at 3hrs, 3hrs 15mins, 3 hrs 30 mins, 3 hrs 45 mins, 4hrs, 4 hrs 30 mins and 5hrs. These finish times are all based on marathon pace.
Miles 3, 6, 8.5, 12, 15, 17.5
Yes, at mile 6 and mile 12.
The course closes at 3PM. The first half of the course closes at 12 noon.
Yes chips are used. Splits are taken at the start, 10km, 20km, 13.1 miles, 30km and at the finish.
Results will be published on the website within 24 hours.
A finishers medal, a souvenir finishers t-shirt(handed out at the Expo), food, refreshment and the elation of having completed a remarkable event on a memorable day in a true sporting city.
Should the event be postponed due to occurrences outside the control of the event organiser, the event organiser reserves the right to reschedule the event to a future date. Those registered for the event will be accommodated on the rescheduled event date. If the rescheduled event date does not suit the individuals needs the event organiser will offer a deferral to the next year’s event or refund the ticket price up to 3 months preceding the new event date.
