Full Marathon

26.2 miles or 42 kilometers through a variety of settings including Limerick's city centre, the University of Limerick,picturesque countryside and riverside locations. The marathon starts at the award winning People's Park surrounded by Georgian Limerick. The course then heads to the University and Castletroy area taking in the superb University campus and the breathtaking Living Bridge. The route then heads back to the city taking in the Canal Bank. This route is a very popular running route for runners of all abilities including many world champions visiting Ger Hartman at the University Arena. The marathon course then returns to the city center reaching the halfway point on Parnell Street. The route then heads to the countryside passing Young Munsters Rugby Club, Old Crescent Rugby Club and Limerick Golf Club. The route then returns to the city center for the final 10KM. The last 10 kilometers are filled with a wonderful array of historical, sporting and cultural sites before finishing on Limericks O'Connell Street.

What time is the race beginning?  

There are two starts to the marathon.

Start #1 8.00AM - participants who expect to have a finishing time of between 6.00hrs to 8.5 hrs.

Start#2 9.00AM- participants who expect to have a finishing time of under 6 hours.

Are pace makers being used?

Yes pacemakers will be available at 3hrs, 3hrs 15mins, 3 hrs 30 mins, 3 hrs 45 mins, 4hrs, 4 hrs 30 mins

 

Where are the water stations?

Mile 3, 6.5, 10, 12.5, 15, 18.5, 23, 25

 

Are sports drinks provided along the course?

Mile 15 & Mile 23

 

Are sports gels provided along the course?

Mile 12.5 & Mile 18.5

 

What do I get when I finish?

A finishers medal, a souvenir finishers tee-shirt (handed out at the Expo), food, refreshment and the elation of having completed a remarkable event on a memorable day in the European City of Sport in 2012.

 

What time does the course close?

Marathon course closes at 4:30PM. The first half of the course closes at 12 noon.

 

Are timing chips used-if yes what splits?

Yes chips are used. Splits are taken at 10KM, halfway and 30KM.

 

Where can I see my time details?

Results will be published on the website within 24 hours.

 

Is the course certified by AAI?
