What time do the races start?
The marathon starts at 9AM. The half-marathon starts at 11AM. The 10KM will start at 12:30PM.
What time can participants access the start area on race day?
Marathon runners can enter the race start area from 8AM. Half marathon participants can access the start area from 9:30 AM. 10KM participants can access the start area from 11:15AM.
How will participants be allowed access to the start area?
Participants will have to show their race numbers to access the start area.
If I sign up for a shorter event and want to move up to a longer event, what do I do?
That’s no problem. We will deduct the fee you have paid from the current race entry fee. You must advise us of this change on or before the 16th April.
Can I give my number to somebody else?
No.
What can I do if I want to run a shorter race but have signed up for a longer race?
No problem. Once you let us know on or before 16th April we will simply change you to your new event.
I’ve signed up but I will not be able to take part. Can I transfer to next year?
Yes you can transfer to next year once you advise us before April 4th.
What markers will be on the course?
There will be mile markers along the course at every mile, and kilometre markers every 5 kilometers.
What do I get when I finish?
You will receive a finisher’s sports top, a specially commissioned memento and an enormous sense of fulfilment. Drinks and refreshments will also be available at the finish area.
Are ipods and mp3 players banned?
We recommend all personal music devices not be used for safety reasons. Our race vehicles and ambulances must use the course, and must be able to alert participants of their presence. Your co-operation here is appreciated.
Will all particpants be chipped for timing?
All participants competing in the marathon and half marathon will be chipped. Splits will be taken at the start, 10K, half-way, 30K and finish for the marathon participants.
Will there be a place to mind clothes / valuables?
Yes. Each participant will be given a bag and they should put their number on this bag. Bags can be collected at the finish zone, by displaying your entry number.
Where are the water stops along the course?
Water stops will be positioned every 3 miles along the course. At mile markers 3, 6 , 9 ,12 ,15 ,18 , 21 and 24.
Are there cut off times for any of the races?
Yes. The course closes at 4PM. Marathon runners must pass the half way point by 12 noon or they will be removed from the course.
Will pacemakers be used?
Yes. Pacemakers will be used for the marathon course. These will be here participants in the 3:15, 3:30, 3:45, 4:00 and 4:30 time zones.
Is there parking at the start area / finish area?
The immediate area around the start and finish area will be closed to all parking. However, Limerick has ample parking at other streets and multi-story carparks all within a 10 min walk from the start line.
Where can I get results after the event?
Results will be available on line within 24 hours of the finish on the Great Limerick Run website results page.
How do we get our race numbers?
Race numbers will be given out at the Great Limerick Run Expo on Friday 30th April 2010 from 2PM to 8PM, and on Saturday 1st May from 9AM to 6PM.
How can I register as a volunteer?

Official Timing
Chip timing systems will be in place for the marathon. Each runner will be chipped at race start and finish and critical milestones along the route including the half way point and the 10K and 30K points.
Water Stations / Mile Markers
Water Stations will be available every 3 miles.
Mile Markers and kilometer markings will be positioned along the route.
